Suchandra X Vaaniya has made a distinct mark in the Bengal film industry as an actress, director, and producer. Her company, Vaaniya Group of Companies, produces films under its banner. As an actress, she has worked in numerous Bengali films, web series, and short films, including Diet (Hotstar), Path Jadi Na Sesh Hoy (Klikk), Balukabela.com (Zee5), Bonku Babu (Zee5), Jamai Boron, Not a Dirty Film (Klikk), Chotushkone (Prime Video), Conditions Apply (Prime Video), Kolkatay Columbus (Sony Liv), Nilachaley Kiriti, Suryo Prithibir Charidike Ghore, and Purob Poshchim Dokkhin Uttar Ashbei. In direction, her first notable work was the creative direction of Purob Poshchim Dokkhin Uttar Ashbei, a high-budget Bengali spiritual thriller that succeeded at the box office. She later directed Surpanakha Agomon (The Arrival of Shurpanakha), a 17-minute short film selected for the Kolkata International Film Festival in 2022, winning over 10 awards in various categories. Suchandra studied direction at the New York Film Academy and honed her skills at the Sujit Roy Institute.
